The story

Hi, I'm Connor. I make these by hand.

I started building The Beat Brick because making music had started to feel like managing software. I wanted to get ideas out the way they show up in my head — fast, physical, and away from a screen.

So I designed an instrument I actually wanted to play: pads, keys, and knobs you can learn in an afternoon, portable enough to take to a friend's couch, a park, or a green room. Every machine is assembled, tested, and packed by me.

It's still evolving, and I'd rather build a small number of these for people who get it than a lot of them for people who don't. If that sounds like you, come along for the build.

The honest part

Here's what I'd want to know.

The Beat Brick is a boutique, handmade instrument from one person — not a mature factory product with thousands of shipped units behind it. That's the good part and the risky part, so here's all of it.

It's still being built

Firmware, sounds, and the hardware itself are all still improving. What you see here is where it is today, not a finished catalog product.

There's handmade character

Small cosmetic differences and finish variation come with the territory. Anything that affects how it actually plays gets treated seriously.

Timelines move

Parts, assembly, firmware, and QA in a batch this small can take longer than expected. I'd rather say that up front than quietly slip.

I post what's working, what broke, and what's next. Email is the main channel — that's most of why the list exists.

Is this a finished product?

It's a real, working instrument — but this is a boutique run, not a mass-market launch. Expect a more personal, handmade experience, and expect it to keep improving.

Do I need a computer to use it?

No. That's the whole point. The Beat Brick works standalone, so you can make a loop on a couch, in a park, or in a green room without opening a laptop.

What does joining the list actually get me?

Build updates, new sounds, and first notice when machines are available. It's the only way I announce availability, and you can unsubscribe any time.

Is international shipping available?

Checkout is currently configured for U.S. shipping addresses only. International batches can open later once shipping and tax handling are ready.
